TILT x TOYINE – Recycle, repurpose, renew

In a textile atelier, waste is generated every day – from the cones that hold selections of threads to the tubes used to stack the fabrics. Toyine has been reusing leftover yarns in her own creations for a while and has now decided to go one step further by seeking a renewed purpose for the plastic waste and other leftovers when she came across TILT’s studio.

Seemingly worthless materials from TOYINE’s atelier have been repurposed and given new meaning by Toyine and Brussels-based duo Laetitia De Moor and Patrick van Roy. Plastic dyeing cones and tubes have been transformed into a collection of seven one-offs, entirely bespoke lighting pieces.

TILT’s use of colour and the reclaimed elements resonated with Toyine’s creative language, resulting in a collection of lighting designs that are functional yet sculptural and imbued with decorative poetry.
